BEER NEWS:

  • We are pleased to report that we now have 13 award-winning handcrafted beers on tap. The Crippla’ has been tapped, & this is the best batch in the 5 years that we have been producing this spring seasonal.  April 1st we tap a cask of Crippla’ as well!
  • Speaking of Casks, this is a month with 3 Cask Thursdays:
    • 4/1: “The Fool” – a cask of Crippla’
    • 4/14: “The Refund” (we hope) – a cask of JC Flyer IPA
    • 4/29: “ The Bull” – an elegant blend of Casey Jones & porter dry hopped with a blend of Simcoe & Citra hops in honor of all the Tauruses out there.
  • The Release of the 750 ml bottles of Rye The Funk Not?  The wait is finally over.  On April 20th (in & around) we will finally be releasing this much sought after & anticipated nectar of the gods, and might we say-it was SO worth the wait.  Follow us on Facebook for the exact release date & time. (http://www.facebook.com/ironspringspub)
  • 7th annual Firkin Fest on Saturday April 24th at Triple Rock Brewery in Berkeley and we will be showcasing a Cask of The Malice (Oak-aged Menace Barley Wine)
  • FISH & CHIPS MONDAYS: In March we started a new tradition at Iron Springs, & the response has been phenomenal.  Join us every Monday for Luis’ special Fish & Chips – this is Luis’ special recipe which uses the freshest Mahi Mahi battered in our own Kent Lake Kolsch and served with those yummy french fries!  Don’t forget, all the oil used to make this delectable treat then gets filtered and put back into the Ambrewlance as a viable fuel source – a win-win for all!!  Tasty & environmentally beneficial.

GIVE BACK TUESDAY PROGRAM:

In March, It was all YES Foundation all month.  The YES Foundation supports the local Ross Valley School District and funding programs such as music, art, and PE. Especially with the state of the California budget, work that the YES Foundation does is even more critical to our schools. You can learn more about the YES foundation at www.yestokids.org.

In April we have a variety of great nonprofits who will be beneficiaries:

April 6 – San Geronimo Valley Community Center

For the past 40 years, the Community Center has been serving the four villages of the San Geronimo Valley — Woodacre, San Geronimo, Forest Knolls and Lagunitas — and Nicasio, and the surrounding communities in western Marin County. The Center has become a focal point in for programs in the Arts, Human Services and for community events and activities. Our visual, literary and performing arts programs provide outstanding cultural opportunities for all Valley residents. Our human services, wellness programming and school-linked services programs serve the children and families, and adults both young and old.  More information at www.sgvcc.org.

April 13 – Bread and Roses

Bread & Roses is dedicated to uplifting the human spirit by providing free, live, quality entertainment to people who live in institutions or are otherwise isolated from society.   For more information check out www.breadandroses.org.

April 20 – ForWords

ForWords, in partnership with the Canal Community Alliance, supports middle and high school students to be academically successful in writing; to develop literacy skills, improve digital technology skills, and to receive instruction in memoir, narrative, research, poetry, and persuasive writing.  Since 2007, For Words has offered summer and after-school programs to hundreds of students at the Canal Community Alliance offices and Pickleweed Park in San Rafael.  ForWords was founded in the memory of a Fairfax native who passed away at 25 years of age.  She attended Manor, White Hill, and Drake High School, and was an accomplished writer in her own right.  For more information, please visit www.ForWords.org .

April 27 – Drake High School Mountain Bike Team

These fine riders are the  2009 California State Champions, and 2004 & 2006 NorCal High School Mountain Bike Racing League Champions.  Find out more about them at www.drakemtb.org.

WRAP UP:

We are looking forward to some very exciting things for April:

  • The Craft Brewers Conference & World Beer Cup. We have 7 beers entered in this year’s World Beer Cup and we are hoping to keep our World Beer Cup winning streak alive.
  • Cask Thursdays!
  • Friday Lunches!
  • Iron Springs Pub & Brewery have been selected as finalists for the 2010 Acterra Environmental Business Awards.  Apparently the competition is very stiff this year and we are honored just to be nominated as finalists.  The winners will be notified on or before April 12th and we are biting our nails in anticipation.
  • Luis and his crew have been formulating and testing some exciting new dishes for the Spring & Summer-stay tuned for all this deliciousness and follow us on Facebook for up to the minute updates on when these items will be available on the menu.

Cheers!
