Special Music on Tuesday August 1st! Happy Birthday Jerry!

On August 1st, our musical and spiritual guru Jerry Garcia, would have turned 75.  Every year we like to pay homage to Jerry by doing a special birthday tribute show.  This year we have a very exciting evening planned with Sless & Friends featuring Barry Sless, John Molo, Pete Sears and Katie Skene.  Possibly some surprise guests as well?  DJ Acidpalace (Rob Bleetstein from SiriusXM’s Grateful Dead Channel) will be spinning a deep tribute to Jerry for this 75th Birthday Celebration pre show and during set break.  This show is a $5.00 cover, and all proceeds go to the band.

Come Get Your Crowler! Through Labor Day 3 for $33!

Wednesday August 16th

Fly By Train – A folk rockin’ jam country cana grass band.

Fly by Train is a musical journey. A steady foot tapping, hand clapping ride through the
Appalachian mountains, round the curves of the great lakes, the salty shores of the
Atlantic, the subways of new York, the subtle harmonies of the deep south, the raspy
winds of the desert, the chattering chill of the Sierras, to the magical music of the
Northern California Coast. Our guides follow on the tracks of the poets, storytellers,
misfits, vagabonds, circus acts, starlets, hobos and hippies, telling us tales of love and loss,
perseverance and hope! They play train songs and break up songs to put it simply. They
believe that music should make you happy. The rhythm of the railroad embodied by Fly by
Train, will do just that.

Wednesday August 23rd

HowellDevine – Sexy, Shack-Shaking Music

HowellDevine, the massively talented NorCal trio became the first blues band Arhoolie Records (Fred McDowell, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Big Mama Thornton) signed in 27 years. Triple threat talent Joshua Howell (slide guitars, harmonica, voice) and percussion savant Pete Devine (drums, washboard) plus snappy doghouse bassist Joe Kyle Jr. deftly mix sinuous Delta/country blues with wildly syncopated rhythms to create a rollicking present day sound from the past. HowellDevine breaks from the norm, providing rich and complex textures integral to the music rather than simple backing for a soloist.  The result is a sound which stands in stark contrast to the typical blues heard in bars these days and would more likely be shaking the floors of a Southern juke joint some 70 years ago.

Wednesday August 30th

Hop Sauce is a concoction of instrumental groove, funk and jazz, balancing improvisation with composition and a knack for fun, tasty jams. The core trio (Jeff Cleland on bass, Chris Gamper on drums and Jono Kornfeld on guitar) has a rich history of playing together going back nearly 30 years.
