I grew up outside Ithaca, New York. Ithaca Beer Company was always a favorite once I reached drinking age, along with good ol’ Genesee Cream Ale AKA “Genny Cream”. After college, I decided I needed to move to San Francisco and embrace myself in a cultural area and try not to blow it and fail. Somehow I’m still here and in that time I discovered the greatness of local craft beer. Living in the mission at age 23 will do that. Years later after a stint in the corporate sales world chasing them dolla’ signs, I decided I wanted to go after a career in the craft brewing industry.»
After a career in advertising working with clients like Duvel, La Chouffe and Ommegang, Tom decided he’d rather make beer than ads about beer. Every day, the beer, the people who make it, and the craft culture continue to inspire him. Also, despite what you may have heard, Tom is absolutely not the progenitor of an underground international fighting ring called The Crucible. There is no such thing.»
Dave grew up right here in Fairfax and caught the beer bug at a young age while watching his father, Bill, make beer at home. From there, his fascination grew as he became old enough to start making beer himself. After returning back to Marin from attending school in Humboldt County, he started working at J&M Brewing Supplies in Novato while honing his craft. Dave started working at Iron Springs in 2015 as the cellarman/delivery driver and quickly moved up to lead brewer where he is today, making world class craft beer for you all to enjoy!»
A Navy man that got his first taste of wonderfully hand crafted beer while on liberty in Perth, Australia. Realized his true calling in professional brewing while putzing around the Oregon Brewers Festival in 1997 sampling all the different beer styles and meeting incredibly cool bearded people. Christian began cleaning kegs and bar tending at Triple Rock in Berkeley in 1995 to eventually becoming their Head Brewer in 2001. Has been the Head Brewer here at Iron Springs Pub and Brewery since July of 2008 and has made it kind of a BIG DEAL.»
Iron Springs is a brewery more than 20 years in the making dating back to when Mike Altman started washing kegs for McMenamin’s in Portland Oregon in 1991. This is where the original Epiphany was first brewed – many thousands of batches of beers ago.
Mike spent 7 years brewing for McMenamin’s brewing at every single one of their breweries including running their production facility, Edgefield. From there Mike packed up his Subaru and moved out to Boulder, Colorado to work for The Mountain Sun and helped build the Southern Sun brewery.
After brewing many a snowy winter in Colorado, Mike found the love of his life and moved to Fairfax, California where they opened up Iron Springs in 2004.»
