December 8th – Free the Children

Free_The_Children_LogoThe Free the Children clubs are in the San Anselmo and Fairfax schools of Wade Thomas Elementary (where we started) and now White Hill Middle School and just starting at Manor Elementary School.  The club is about kids doing good for others – both locally and globally.   Last year, the Free the Children club raised $11,000 to fund the building of a school in Ghana.  This year, the three combined clubs have a goal of raising $20,000 to fund clean water wells in Ecuador.  So far the kids have raised more than $2500 and have big plans in particular a Walk for Water in March which we expect will be our biggest fundraiser.   In addition to this global activity, the club has monthly field trips to the food bank, they will be cooking for the homeless three different times, they will be volunteering at the human society, helping Spanish speaking parents learn English by babysitting the children during lessons, and so much more.
