Wednesday November 8th

Kelly Peterson Band

For over ten years Kelly Peterson’s smoky soulful voice has captivated audiences around the Bay Area and beyond. Her live show showcases unique interpretations of classic Americana as well as striking original compositions. She counts none other than Sean Penn as a fan, who used one of her songs in his 2007 film “Into the Wild”. A powerful solo performer in her own right she now tours with the support of an all-star band featuring Taylor Cutcomb (This Old Earthquake) on upright bass and Erik Smyth (Mo’fessionals/ELP) on guitar and harmonies and Michael Pinkham on drums (Albino!, New Monsoon). Kelly Peterson’s beautiful, pure voice cuts through the fog of mediocrity like a beacon of light. She is not to be missed.

Musicians Helping Musicians – Featuring Funky Little Shack

Tonight is a very special night of music. A night we hope helps the healing and the family that is in need right now. Funky Little Shack is a high energy dance-party band! Founded over a decade ago by guitarist Adam Lipansky FLS gets everyone out on the floor with a funky party groove. FLS features dynamic vocals, a slamming rhythm section, and blazing hot horns. Along with Adam, FLS features Karla Downey on vocals/percussion, Jeff Cleland on bass, Jamison Smeltz on sax. Be prepared for some special guests as this night is for a special friend of ours, a lifetime member of the FLS, who has been an absolute warrior fighting stage 4 cancer for 2.5 years! Come on down and let the love flow (and beer) and make sure to bring your dancing shoes!

Jaffe’s band, The Distractions (referencing Elvis Costello’s first backing band, The Attractions), consists of Alex Newell on guitar, Sammie Fischer on bass and Alex Coltharp on drums. They released their five-song EP, Blast Off, in 2015. Former Uptones co-founders Eric Din and Paul Jackson played guitar and keyboards respectively on the recording. Matthew King Kaufman produced four of the songs on the release. Coincidentally, Kaufman, formerly of Beserkley Records, co-produced the seminal The Modern Lovers album in 1976—Jerry Harrison is a founding member of The Modern Lovers.  While touring to support the EP, the band has opened for Mavis Staples and The Damnwells. The band embarked on its first extensive U.S. tour in 2015, opening for Blues Traveler.
