Beers On Tap At The Pub

April 24th, 2012

Kent Lake Kolsch:

*WINNER, BRONZE MEDAL, 2011 GREAT AMERICAN BEER FESTIVAL, GOLDEN/BLONDE ALE*
Our rendition of this classic from Cologne is brewed with all German
ingredients.  This light and crisp ale holds many characteristics of a lager with some tangy and tart notes. Water for this beer is locally sourced from Kent Lake.
Hops: Saphir (a type of Hallertau) ABV: 4.5%  O.G.: 1.050
Grain Bill: German Pilsner, German Wheat, Vienna, Munich
Food Pairings: Fish Tacos, Tuna Tartar, Herb Chicken, Caesar Salads

Helles Angel Lager:

One of only a few lagers created here at Iron Springs; this traditional light lager is crisp, smooth, and refreshing.  Brewed entirely with imported malts and Czexh Saaz Hops
Hops: Saaz ABV: 4.8% O.G.: 1.043
Grain Bill: Pilsner & Light Munich

Alsatian Pale Ale:

A single hopped international style pale ale, with a cereal mat flavor, a clean, silky body, and a dominate earthy/citrusy noble hop presence. The Aramis hops used come from the Alsatian region of France. Wheat free.
Hops: Aramis ABV: 5.5% O.G.:1.057
Grain Bill: Marris Otter, 2-Row Pale Ale, C-15, Oatmeal
Food Pairings: Burgers, Chicken Quesadilla, Herb Chicken, Apple Crisp

Chazz Cat Rye Ale:

A light, golden amber ale with a slight hop bite;  well balanced with fruity, earthy notes and spicy overtones. “We all got high on the Chazz Cat Rye.” Dry hopped and wheat free.
Hops: Nugget, Northern Brewer, & Cascade ABV: 6.5% O.G.: 1.062
Grain Bill: Maris Otter, Munich, Rye Malt, & Dextrin
Food Pairings:Fish or Prawn Tacos, Herb Chicken, Quesadilla, Nachos

The Thriller Strong Lager:

A traditional German-style pale mai bock which has been lagered (aged) for over 5 weeks.  Light in colore, well balanced with hops, medium bodied, and a mellow toasted malt finish. Dangerously smooth, this lager is an easy drinking heavy hitter that will have you moon walking.
Hops: Saphir & Aramis ABV: 6.8% O.G.: 1.061
Grain Bill: Pilsner, Light Munich, & Vienna

Late Seasonal Draught:

“A premium fresh quality beer.” L.S.D. is a California take on a classic English-style E.S.B. (Extra Special Bitter). Mild in malt flavor and well balanced in hoppiness, a true session beer.
Hops: Brewer’s Golds ABV: 5% O.G.: 1.047
Grain Bill: Maris Otter, Light Crystal, Caravienne, & Chocolate
Food Pairings: Chicken, Pork, and Mom’s Apple Pie.

The Crippla 4.0:

The latest modification of this tried and true style incorporates a rare and very distinctive Japanese Hop known as Sorachi Ace.  This beer in not and IPA, rather a strong Pale Ale with low bitterness and a huge tropical Hop aroma and finish.  The addition of Rolled Oats add smoothness to the mouth feel.
Hops: CTZ, Citra, & Sorachi Ace ABV: 8% O.G.: 1.068
Grain Bill: Pilsner, Munich, Vienna. Light Crystal, & Oatmeal

JC Flyer I.P.A. (India Pale Ale):

A Fairfax favorite! This IPA is smooth with great floral notes; big & bold, yet smooth & mellow.
Hops: CTZ, Cascade, & Citra ABV: 7% O.G.: 1.064
Grain Bill: Marris OTter, Wheat, & Dextrin
Food Pairings: Hot wings, Chicken Skewers, Sausage Plate

Casey Jones Imperial I.P.A.:

This double IPA has twice the hops and grains as its counterpart.  Significant floral, citrus, and peppery notes on the nose, yet even with the enormous hop profile, the huge grain bill results in a very well balanced brew.
Hops: CTZ, Chinook, & Zythos ABV: 9% O.G.: 1.084
Grain Bill: 2-Row Pale, Munich, Biscuit, & Wheat
Food Pairings: Nachos, BBQ Pork, Garlic Fries, Spicy or Smoked Foods

Epiphany Ale:

*WINNER, BRONZE MEDAL, 2006 WORLD BEER CUP, AMERICAN RED ALE*
A Pacific Northwest hoppy amber ale with floral and citrus aromas.  Ready for an Epiphany?!  There is a great story to how this beer got its name.  If you are curious please ask Mike. Wheat free.
Hops: Cascade (hop-backed with whole leaf Cascades) ABV: 6%  O.G.: 1.058
Grain Bill: Marris Otter, Dark Crystal Malts
Food Pairings: Meatloaf, Prawn Salad, Sausage Plate, Nachos

Platypus Spiced Ale:

A strange yet very cool mammal and Belgian inspired spiced amber ale infused with fresh Thyme and Bitter Orange Peel.  The blend of herbs and spice from the yeast play well together in this low hopped amber ale.  Wheat free.
Hops: Aramis ABV: 8.8% O.G.: 1.076
Grain Bill: Belgian Pilsner, Biscuit, Cara Munich, & Dark Candi Sugar

Anne Marie’s Amber Ale:

Caramel, toffee, and slight chocolate notes accent this complex American style amber that is full of crystal malts and minimal in hop flavor or bitterness.  This ale is generously sweet, yet bold, like the woman for whom it was named.
Hops: Crystal, Liberty ABV: 7% O.G.:  1.060
Grain Bill: Golden Promise, Munich, Dark Crystal Malt, Biscuit, & CaraVienne
Food Pairings: Burgers, Seafood, Cajun or other spicy foods, Roast Pork

Fairfax Coffee Porter:

Infused with real “Fairfax Coffee Roasters” coffee, this robust porter has hints of chocolate and roasted nuts.  Very dark in color, but not quite as heavy as the stout; the porter is dispensed with nitrogen gas, replicating natural carbonation.
Hops: Northern Brewer, Crystal Abv: 6.7% O.G.: 1.065
Grain Bill: Maris Otter, Chocolate, British Brown, & Crystal Malts
Food Pairings: Burgers, Steak, Chocolate Desserts, Reuben

Sless’s Stimulating Oatmeal Stout:

*WINNER, GOLD MEDAL, 2008 WORLD BEER CUP, OATMEAL STOUT*

Dark, hardy, thick, rich, roasted and chocolaty, this ale is amazingly smooth due to the generous addition of whole oats.  Named for a friend of Iron Springs and easily the finest pedal steel player around, Barry Sless, this one is layered with flavors.
