Mo’lasses is the funky side project of several well-known Bay Area musicians, who came together to express their love of New Orleans funk (and beyond) as seen through a San Francisco kaleidoscope. Gabe Ford, best known as the current drummer of the world renown band, Little Feat, has been a staple on the Bay Area music scene for decades, playing with 008, The Gabe Ford Band, and Bubb Rubb, prior to joining Little Feat. Chris Rossbach, perhaps best known for his 15+ year tenure playing guitar with Zigaboo Modeliste, has contributed his in-the-pocket rhythm playing and incendiary improvisation to a long list of Bay Area groups and collaborations including D’Amphibians, Bobby Vega, and the Incubators. Keyboardist Steven Younger is best known for his heavy Hammond B3 handiwork with Bay Area stalwarts Ziggaboo Modeliste, Dredgetown, D’Amphibians, and the Incubators. A student of New Orleans funk, Steven is equally adept at laying down a solid groove pocket and ripping through a fiery solo. The funky bass backbone of numerous Bay Area groups including Dredgetown and D’Amphibians, Steve Moore’s pocket and energy is undeniable. Part of the Bay Area jam and funk circuit for 20+ years, you’ve probably heard Michael Myers fat tenor sax sound working through deep improvisations, or laying down tight horn lines, with such groups as Yeti, Tree o’ Frogs, Freaktet, Funky Beaulah, and Dredgetown. Soulful singer-songwriter, Paige Clem’s velvety, unaffected vocals exude that most elusive of musical qualities — Soul. Quickly becoming a major force on the San Francisco Bay Area music scene, she has shared the stage with countless bands and artists including members of Dead and Co., Further, Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon, ALO, Fruition, Anders Osborne, RatDog, Melissa Ethridge, moe. and more.
